Pale Baby Blue Collar

When I crocheted this collar, I wasn’t quite sure I’d chosen the right colour thread. But when I finished it and framed it with a darker ribbon, I was pleased with my choice. The collar looks very stylish and elegant. It can adorn any outfit, especially if a pale blue is your colour.

Lavender

Some years ago, I was visiting St Andrews in Scotland. It is one of the loveliest towns for me till now. We were walking with my daughter at the seashore, talking and enjoying each other. We were tasting scones and taking multum photos when we noticed a small shop with different things, mostly vintage. And that’s where we found this wonderful calendar, “The Floral Birthday Book”: Flowers and their Emblems, with Appropriate selections from the poets with 368 illustrations engraved and printed in colours by Edmund Evans. I am getting ready to write a separate post about this book and show you examples of flowers and poetry, but for now, I’d like to present to you my yesterday crocheting – thin sprigs of lavender.

Satin Ribbon

I checked my supplies and understood that I need going shopping. I’ll try to find a pale blue or maybe navy blue or somewhat shade of blue colour ribbon for this new crochet collar. By the way, I like this pattern so much that I started a new choker, this time of red yarn, so I need a bright red colour ribbon too.

New Collar

I have so many new items started, but what can I do if I have a million ideas in my head? Some time ago, I decided to crochet a new/old collar – new by its colour and known by the pattern. I have one on LaceCrochetFinds in cream colour, and a new one is in a pale blue. I’d also like to crochet cuffs to it, but as far I can’t come up with fastening. The collar tied with satin ribbon, but what about the cuffs? Maybe I need to change the design and use a pearl button instead. By the way, this design is one of my favourites.

Crochet Ruffle Collar

Etsy has died totally, but I am trying to add new items as far as I can. Crocheting this ruffle collar took me a lot of time because of a tiny thread (DMC No 20) and a tiny hook – Clover No 1. Fortunately, I am a stubborn person, so I finished it. All I need now is to fasten the collar and iron it. Then, of course, I show it to you 🙂

My Working Place

I don’t like to write on the Internet about myself. However, since I have more and more subscribers, I think it’s time to introduce myself. I was born in Lithuania, in a small resort town called Druskininkai, but I have been living in another country, Poland, in its capital Warsaw, for 15 years now, and I must say that I have fallen in love with this country and its people with all my heart. I feel at home here. I deal in very different things. Firstly, I teach Russian and Lithuanian to adults (those are my two native languages), secondly, I am a translator, and finally, my hobby is my life. I am a crocheter, knitter, and cross-stitcher. What is more, I have a lot of ideas about needlework, I will not list them all, as they are constantly changing and I have no enough time to realize them all.

My workplace looks like this. A small handy table, hooks, thread, daisies for the garland at work, my favourite simple scissors that I bought a few years ago in Edinburgh and lots of other necessary items for needlework. There is also my cross-stitched picture “Let’s eat cake and Let’s drink tea” by Duren Jones pattern on the table, and my favourite postcards that I received as gifts or brought myself from far away trips. For example, my daughter sent me the Shakespearian mouse from Stratford-upon-Avon, the whale from Canada and the sheep from Edinburgh; the Van Gogh I brought from London when I visited the National Gallery; the Summer of Alphonse Mucha from Prague, where I’ve been several times. I still have a lot of postcards in stock, so sometimes I change them depending on my mood.
