Daily writing prompt
What were your parents doing at your age?

When my parents were my age, they were retired. With plenty of free time, they spent most of it working in their garden. Their property included a house and a greenhouse. On their plot, apple, pear, and plum trees flourished alongside various shrubs—black and red currants, gooseberries, raspberries, and blackberries. In addition to these, there were lots of strawberries and various vegetables. Inside the greenhouse, they grew cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, and even watermelons. Beyond the practical plants, there were also many flowers, mostly peonies, in various colours, including white, dark red, and pink, which were my mother’s favourite. This garden demanded all their attention, and they were happy there. I inherited my love of working with the earth from them. That’s why, even though I live in a big city, I have a tiny garden under my window and enjoy tending to it.
