Egyptian Mau Cat Cross Stitch Pattern

The ancient Egyptians are the first people to leave extensive evidence of their alliance with domestic cats—an affiliation that developed at least 5,000 years ago, according to Egyptian writings and statues (one of them – the Gayer Anderson Cat I saw in  British Museum last year). These domestic cats became beloved household companions, and then sacred animals associated with the gods.

And this is our Egyptian Mau Cat for cross stitch:

While some people might at first be attracted to the Egyptian Mau’s beautiful spotted coat, most become fans due to the breed’s temperament and personality. Maus, like their ancestors that were invited along on the duck hunts of their Egyptian companions, love to fetch. In fact, they love any play activity that mimics hunting behaviour. Indoor-only Maus, the only kind recommended by most enthusiasts, will sometimes leave gifts of well-killed catnip mice on the pillows of their favourite people. Be sure to give your Mau lots of pettings and praise, and perhaps a treat or two, for these presents; Maus will be upset, and quite confused if their generous gifts are coldly rejected. While not overly talkative, Maus will let their humans know if something is amiss, particularly if that something concerns food dishes. Their voices are usually melodious and quiet. When engaged in conversation with their human companions, Maus wag their tails, tread with their feet, and make a variety of sounds that fanciers call “chortling.” Maus are devoted to the humans who pay them the proper homage. If you show your Mau you can be trusted, your Mau will shower you with love and loyalty. They are fiercely loyal cats who generally don’t take to strangers. Once they bond with their preferred persons, they want to be worshipped by their chosen family rather than by the entire human race.

Shopping Bag

Due to Covid-19 I’m on quarantine and working from home. That means I don’t have to go to companies and teach there, I just work on Skype, Messanger, Whatsapp etc. So I have more time for my hobby 🙂 Hence new ideas, for example, for summer bags – ecological, because made of cotton and reusable. I made linen for myself, now I make light turquoise and then there will be powder pink, which is already booked. Unfortunately, the Polish Post Office does not accept shipments abroad and I can only sell these bags on the local market, but I hope, that the situation will change for the better and you will be able to have a new shopping bag for the summer.

I’ve completed this stitching at last! It was 2019 year Sal arranged by Lakesideneedlecraft by Lucie Heaton pattern. It was a real adventure, especially backstitch, which made me crazy sometimes, but each cross and french knot, and even couching were worth it! If you ask me, which part is my favourite, I don’t know the answer. Each part became a favourite as it was finished. Well, maybe a big Wave, or a Crane, or maybe a Carp, and so on, and so on…there is no answer! It was an excellent pattern, thank you, Lucie!

Stitched on Murano Pearl Evenweave 32 count, DMC thread. Techniques used: whole cross stitch, french knots, backstitch, couching.

Grasshopper Counted Cross Stitch Pattern

I am excited to present you a new counted cross stich pattern at our shop and this is a Grasshopper!

In a garden, there lived an ant and a grasshopper who were very good friends. It was springtime and the grasshopper was having a lot of fun playing, singing, and dancing in the sun. But the ant was hardworking. It was collecting food grains and storing them in its house. The grasshopper did not understand why the ant was doing so and said, “Hey,’ Ant! Why don’t you come outside and play with me?” The ant replied, “I cannot. I am storing food for the winter when there won’t be anything to eat!” The grasshopper only laughed at the ant and said, “Why are you worrying now? There is plenty of food!” and contin¬ued to play, while the ant worked hard. When winter came, the grasshopper did not find a single grain of food to eat. It began to starve and feel very weak. The grasshopper saw how the hardworking ant had plenty of food to eat and realised its foolishness. (short story)

In Slavic Horoscope Grasshopper – more than anyone does not like to show fatigue, defeat, misfortune. He always sings, he always spreads his wings, flatter himself in the sun. People smile as they look at Grasshoppers, it’s just lying on the grass in the sun. The Grasshopper is very easy to climb, and although the heart trembles with fear of each jump, it still jumps, melts its wings and flies, trembling with fear and delight. In a new place may be waiting for large terrible animals, there may be predatory spiders, but there may be a beautiful meadow with juicy grass, sweet berries and … …other beautiful Grasshoppers, Beetles, Butterflies!
Almost the biggest coward in the world, Grasshopper admits it only to the closest, and for all others, it is a carefree and cheerful creature, which everything is given easily, effortlessly, which easily converges with all creatures in the world, as Grasshoppers, and all.
The Grasshopper is unhurried in the sense that he is unhurried, he grabs one thing and another. He often throws what he has started, but for others, it is surprising that he is able to do much, even often more than others, diligent. And the secret is that the Grasshopper, having thrown a lot of things at halfway, to half of them still comes back and, ashamed of his cowardice, finishes quickly and successfully. And if we take into account that the Grasshopper captures everything quickly, we can say that it was created on a nice day and in good spirits.
